CASE STUDY: MANNA IN AFGHANISTAN

In Kabul, Afghanistan, Manna consulted with a local non-profit organization to develop a viable business model for fuel briquettes. Fuel briquettes are produced from waste paper, leaves, compost and other biomass and have the potential to be cleaner burning and more affordable than firewood.

Manna engineers worked with the non-profit to develop improved fuel briquette production and quality control methods, while Manna's carbon market experts developed a business case for a carbon-credit subsidized franchise distribution of the briquettes.

This effort was supported by a grant from the Rockefeller Foundation through the University of Colorado at Boulder Engineering for Developing Communities Program.
